DISCOVER KRAKOW

Three days in Krakow give you enough time to see the city’s most important landmarks, experience the atmosphere of its historic districts and discover its rich cultural heritage. From the Main Market Square and Wawel, through atmospheric Kazimierz and the city’s most important museums, to Zabłocie and Podgórze – 72 hours allow you to discover Krakow from many different perspectives.

Day 1: Main Market Square → Royal Route → Wawel → Kazimierz (See the detailed itinerary here)

Day 2: Rynek Underground → Collegium Maius → Planty Park → Czartoryski Museum (See the detailed itinerary here)

Day 3: Schindler’s Factory → MOCAK → Ghetto Heroes Square → Old Podgórze → Father Bernatek Footbridge → Kazimierz

9:30–11:30

Start your third day in Zabłocie with a visit to one of Krakow’s most important historical museums. The former factory of Oskar Schindler is home to the exhibition Krakow under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945, which focuses primarily on the city and the experiences of its residents during the Second World War.

Practical information: From the Main Market Square area, you can walk here in approximately 30–35 minutes or take public transport to the Zabłocie area. The museum is located at 4 Lipowa Street. It is worth buying tickets in advance, especially during the high season.

11:45–13:15

Right next to Schindler’s Factory is MOCAK – the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow. It offers a deliberate change of perspective: after exploring the city’s wartime history, you can discover works by contemporary Polish and international artists.

Practical information: No transport is needed between the two museums – both are located on Lipowa Street. MOCAK is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00 and is closed on Mondays. After your museum visit, plan a lunch break in Zabłocie or Podgórze.

14:30–15:00

Walk towards Podgórze and stop at Ghetto Heroes Square. During the German occupation, the square was located within the Krakow Ghetto. Today, its distinctive installation of empty chairs commemorates the victims of the ghetto. Nearby you will also find the Eagle Pharmacy, which is part of the Museum of Krakow.

Practical information: From Schindler’s Factory and MOCAK, you can reach the square in approximately 10 minutes on foot. The square itself is a public space and no ticket is required.

15:00–17:00

Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Podgórze on foot. Head towards Podgórze Market Square and the distinctive St. Joseph’s Church, discovering a less touristy side of Krakow along the way. If you have more time, continue to Lasota Hill and Krakus Mound – one of the city’s most distinctive viewpoints.

Practical information: Walking around Podgórze is free. If you decide to include Krakus Mound, allow approximately one additional hour.

From 17:00

From Podgórze Market Square, head towards the Vistula River and cross the Father Bernatek Footbridge to Kazimierz. In this way, your itinerary comes full circle – you return to the district you discovered on your first day, but this time approach it from the Podgórze side.

You can spend the evening in Kazimierz or take a leisurely walk back to the Main Market Square via Stradom and Grodzka Street.

Practical information: From Kazimierz, you can walk back to The Bonerowski Palace in approximately 20–25 minutes. If you do not feel like another walk after a full day of sightseeing, you can take a tram.

Do you need public transport? Only to reach Zabłocie in the morning if you prefer not to walk. The rest of the day is best explored on foot.

Which tickets should you buy in advance? Above all, tickets for Schindler’s Factory. A visit to MOCAK can be planned more flexibly.

Do you need to visit both museums? No. If you are more interested in history than contemporary art, spend more time at Schindler’s Factory and exploring Podgórze. If you choose to visit MOCAK as well, the two museums are next to each other, making them very easy to combine.

One important point: if your third day falls on a Monday, MOCAK is closed. In that case, it is best to spend more time exploring Podgórze, visit the Eagle Pharmacy or walk up to Krakus Mound.
